What trucking lenders will need to understand
- Whether revenue comes from contracts, brokers, spot freight, or a concentrated customer base.
- Truck ownership, liens, mileage, maintenance history, and replacement plans.
- Driver model, insurance costs, fuel exposure, and recent operating margins.
- Whether the request is for equipment, working capital, refinancing, or an acquisition.
An SBA loan can fit a broad business purpose, but equipment financing or factoring may be a cleaner match for a narrow truck purchase or receivables gap. Compare the structure, not just the advertised rate.

We grouped SBA 7(a) and 504 approvals using two-digit NAICS sectors 48 and 49, Transportation and Warehousing, then ranked lenders by funded loan count in the available source files. The 7(a) file begins in 2020 and the 504 file begins in 2010. Median loan and rate figures describe each lender's broader SBA activity, not trucking loans alone.
